Taking serious note of the recent controversies surrounding textbook errors and power disconnections in state-run schools, Odisha’s Minister of School and Mass Education, Nityananda Gond, announced a series of corrective measures to ensure a seamless academic environment for students.
Addressing the media regarding the discrepancies found in school textbooks, Minister Gond stated that the department is working on a war footing to resolve the issue. “The preparation of accurate textbooks is currently underway, and meticulous proofreading is being done to eliminate any flaws,” he said. Reassuring students and stakeholders, the Minister emphasized that the government is remaining highly vigilant to prevent the recurrence of such blunders in the future. He confirmed that the administration is making all necessary arrangements to distribute the revised, error-free books to students as soon as possible.
In addition to the textbook dilemma, the Minister also addressed the concerning issue of power disconnections in several government schools due to unpaid bills. Taking swift action, the School and Mass Education Department has issued clear directives to all Block Education Officers (BEOs) across the state to immediately pay the pending electricity dues.
“We have instructed the departmental authorities to ensure immediate restoration of power supply to the affected educational institutions,” Gond informed. He further noted that while electricity has already been restored in some of the affected schools following the intervention, strict orders have been passed to reinstate power connections in the remaining schools without any further delay.
The prompt directives from the School and Mass Education Minister aim to bring immediate relief to students facing hardships due to disrupted power supplies during school hours, while also restoring confidence in the state's educational curriculum.
