In a swift and decisive action against rising cybercrimes, the Ghasipura Police arrested a 36-year-old man on charges of hacking a woman’s social media account and making her private photographs viral on the internet.
The accused has been identified as Susant Ojha, son of Nilamani Ojha, a resident of Keshdurapal under the Ghasipura police limits.
The incident came to light after the victim, Purnima Jena, a resident of Kathapal, approached the Ghasipura Police. According to her complaint, an unidentified cyber miscreant had illegally gained access to her Instagram account. Following the hack, the perpetrator uploaded and circulated her nude photographs online, causing severe mental agony and defamation to the victim.

Acting on the complaint, Ghasipura Police registered Case No. 392 on September 21, 2026. Recognizing the gravity of the offense, the police invoked stringent laws, booking the case under Sections 353(2), 79, and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 67 and 67A of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which deal with the publication and transmission of obscene and sexually explicit material in electronic form.
To identify the anonymous hacker, the police launched a comprehensive investigation relying heavily on digital forensics. According to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Anandapur, a thorough technical analysis of IP addresses and login logs was conducted. The investigation conclusively traced the malicious cyber activities back to Susant Ojha.
Finding the allegations to be entirely true based on the technical evidence, police moved swiftly to apprehend Ojha. The SDPO confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and will be forwarded to the local court today for further legal proceedings.
The swift resolution of the case by the Ghasipura Police serves as a stern warning to cyber offenders in the region, reaffirming the authorities' commitment to tackling digital harassment and protecting the privacy of citizens.
