Six Cops Suspended in Bihar After 25-Year-Old Dies in Custody; Family Alleges Murder

Six police personnel have been suspended with immediate effect in Bihar’s West Champaran district following the death of a 25-year-old man shortly after he was taken into police custody.

The deceased, identified as Dilshad Ansari, died from severe head injuries just hours after being arrested in connection with a narcotics case. The circumstances surrounding his death have become a subject of intense dispute between local law enforcement and the victim’s family.

According to the official police version, Ansari sustained the fatal injuries while attempting to flee from custody. Police officials claim that while he was being transported in a police vehicle, Ansari tried to escape by jumping from the moving car, which resulted in severe trauma to his head. He was reportedly rushed to a nearby medical facility but succumbed to his injuries.

However, Ansari’s family has vehemently rejected the police's narrative. They allege that he was brutally beaten and murdered while in custody. The family claims the story of him jumping from a moving vehicle is a fabricated cover-up to hide custodial torture.

Taking serious note of the allegations and the sensitivity of the incident, senior police officials ordered the immediate suspension of the six police personnel involved in the arrest and transport of the deceased. A departmental inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to Ansari's death.

Authorities have assured that a transparent investigation will be conducted. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the autopsy report is expected to provide critical forensic evidence regarding the exact nature and cause of the head injuries.

Local administration remains on high alert to prevent any law and order situations as the victim's family and community members demand justice and a fair probe into the matter.
